Beginner classes

We offer skill building classes for adults – no prior experience required. Each class series is 6 weeks long, (plus one make-up class) taught by a team of knowledgeable teaching members of our studio. Classes are small, (no more than 6 students) and include clay, tools, equipment, firings and glazes. Come with your own ideas or be guided by our instructors. You will bring home at least 3 finished projects each series.

HANDBUILDING

working at a table, sitting or standing, using tools and hand techniques to form the clay. You will learn all the basics of how to successfully work with clay, including pinching, coiling, slab construction, surface decoration, etc.

Spring class: Tuesdays 6-9pm, May 19th- June 23rd (make up class June 30th)

Summer class: TBD

Fall class: Tuesdays 6-9pm, September 22nd- October 27th (make-up class November 3rd)

THROWING

making ceramic vessels using the pottery wheel. You will learn the step-by-step process of forming pots on the wheel, including trimming, surface decoration, adding handles, etc.

Spring class: Sundays, 10-1pm, May 17th- June 21st (make up class June 28th)

Summer class: Sundays 10-1pm, July 19th- Aug 23rd (make up class Aug 30th)

Fall class: Sundays 10-1pm, September 20th- October 25th (make up class November 1st)

Payment

Full payment required before registration. One make-up date following each series. No refunds.

Payment options include cash, check, Venmo and Cash app.

Reduced fee: $190
(for NW Philly residents who experience generational marginalization and continued financial lack)

Supporter fee: $350+
(for those who can afford to pay extra and help cover our outreach program)
